About Me

About Tomiko D. Mackey, LCSW

For over 26 years, I've helped people work through trauma, anxiety, sleep struggles, and the patterns that quietly make life harder than it needs to be.

Most people who find their way to me have been managing for a long time, showing up, keeping it together, while carrying something heavier underneath. Disconnection. Exhaustion. Reactivity you can’t quite explain. A sense that something needs to change, even if you can’t name it exactly. They just know something must change.

You don't need to have it all figured out before reaching out. That's what we do together.

My role is to help you understand what is happening, where it comes from, and how to move forward in a way that feels practical and lasting.

Availability: I work with individuals via telehealth across California and Mississippi.

My Approach

Clients often describe me as direct with empathy and compassion.

That means I won't just nod along while you stay stuck. I'll help you challenge the thoughts that hold you back, recognize the patterns shaping your life, and build tools that create lasting momentum. And because change takes courage and vulnerability, I approach that process with genuine care.

Our work is collaborative, moving at a pace that feels manageable and meaningful.

My Specialties

More About Me

I spent more than 20 years working with children and families in trauma settings, which gave me deep respect for how early experiences shape adult lives.

Over time, I found myself drawn to helping adults understand the roots of what they carry and create something different.

If you're ready to stop pushing through and start moving forward, let's talk. Book a free consultation. Reaching out for a consultation is a first step, and there's no pressure. It's just a conversation, and it could be the one that changes everything.

Outside of therapy, I love spending time outdoors, hiking, exploring local farmers’ markets, cooking, and discovering great food while traveling. One of my favorite adventures was going on safari in Botswana. I also deeply value time with family and friends.
